Brazilian singer-songwriter Osvaldo Montenegro passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the age of 60. Montenegro was known for his unique sound and his poetic lyrics.

Born in Brasília, Montenegro began his career in the 1970s. He rose to prominence with his 1981 album "Lua e Flor", which featured the hit single of the same name. The song became an anthem of love and hope and is considered one of the greatest Brazilian songs of all time.

Montenegro continued to release successful albums throughout his career, including "Bandolins" (1985), "Intuição" (1988), and "A Flor da Pele" (1992). He also wrote music for film and television.

Montenegro's death was announced by his family on social media. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Osvaldo Montenegro," the family wrote. "He was an extraordinary artist and a wonderful person. His music will continue to inspire and bring joy to us all."
